Youth Mental Health First Aid

What is Youth Mental Health First Aid?

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

This workshop is being offered for free and lunch will be provided.

About the instructor:

Danit Erlich holds a Ph.D. in Criminology from Bar Ilan University in Israel and is a PCI Certified Parent Coach®, certified Life Coach and certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor. She is a mom of 3 girls (5,11,14 years old) and lives in Sammamish for over 8 years.

In Israel, Danit taught high school students  and undergraduate students for 9 years.

Danit founded Always Forward: Coaching and Consulting LLC where she’s helping parents and international individuals and couples overcome personal, parental and cultural obstacles.

Snoqualmie Resilient: Workshop 2 of 4 “How to Get a Grip and Keep It”

In this workshop we will discuss the difference between stress, anxiety and trauma; how each one wires and effects the brain; and tools that help us to repair, grow and thrive. Participants will learn grounding strategies and self-reflection techniques that help us get a grip on stress, and mindfulness and self-care tips so you can keep it. Information in this workshop is useful for adults as well as the children they care for and teach.

Be the Change Youth Summit

Join us for the 12th annual Be the Change Summit which empowers youth to make a difference by getting involved in their communites. Our goal is to hear from the youth in our community, help them discover inner strengths and build foundations for leadership. Can’t wait to see you there!

At the Be the Change Summit, middle school-aged students are invited to learn from Luis Ortega, public speaker and possibility coach extraordinaire, as well as several youth co-facilitators and adult presenters from the community.

This event includes breakfast, lunch, a t-shirt and DOOR PRIZES! Come make new friends and enjoy a day of fun!

Teen Facilitators will complete a training the night before (March 15th) from 5pm-7pm at the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network Office in Carnation: 31951 W. Bird Street Carnation, WA. 98014 (Right across the parking lot from Hopelink – near the Farmers Market park). Dinner will be provided!
